Did you know that the effects of aging can also be experienced in your intimate areas? From decreased sensitivity and lubrication to heightened discomfort, sometimes we could use a little rejuvenation below the belt.
As an aesthetic gynecologist, I offer a number of different treatments that are designed to restore function and promote feelings of confidence and satisfaction. Keep reading below to learn more about the O-Shot, one of the non-surgical intimate health procedures I offer.
What is the O-Shot?
The O-Shot is a minimally invasive treatment that takes advantage of the body’s natural healing processes in order to promote improvements in orgasm and enhance sexual enjoyment. It involves precisely injected PRP to the clitoris and upper vagina.
Why the O-Shot treatment? What are the possible benefits?
The O-Shot aims to promote a number of benefits including: Restored or enhanced sexual responsiveness and sensitivity, increased vaginal sensitivity, and relief of discomfort or pain during intercourse (dyspareunia). The O-Shot can also be used in combination with vaginal laser treatment to help women who suffer from decreased lubrication and mild stress urinary incontinence.
What is platelet-rich plasma?
Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) is a substance derived from your own blood. This substance is commonly referred to as “liquid gold” as it is rich in growth factors that trigger cell proliferation and promote tissue healing.
How is the treatment performed?
Prior to beginning your procedure, I will apply a topical numbing agent to the treatment area. I will collect your PRP and get it ready for performing the treatment. Once you are numb and we are ready to begin, I will inject the PRP precisely into both the clitoris and upper vagina.
How long does the O-Shot procedure take to perform?
From start to finish, this procedure typically takes about 1 hour. I would suggest allotting yourself some extra time before and after to allow time for questions you would like to discuss with me, as well as administrative tasks such as completing paperwork and scheduling follow up appointments.
Does the O-Shot hurt?
Some patients report feeling a slight pinch during the treatment, however, most do not report it to be a painful procedure. The numbing cream will help to alleviate discomfort.
What is the downtime like?
Following your procedure, you will be able to immediately resume normal activities as per your level of comfort. You may experience some mild spotting or bleeding, this is completely normal and should go away on its own. Please refrain from intercourse for at least 48 hours following treatment.
What should I do to get ready for my O-Shot appointment?
On the day of your treatment, be sure to wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing and underwear (no thongs). If you are on your period, be sure to call our clinic; your appointment will need to be rescheduled for another date. You may wish to take ibuprofen (eg. Advil) or acetaminophen (eg. Tylenol) prior to your arrival to help manage any discomfort during and after your treatment.
The O-Shot is just one of the many non-surgical treatments I offer for intimate health concerns. If you are interested in this, or would like to learn about other treatment options, come meet with me in a consultation appointment. Contact our clinic to schedule your appointment.
